Guess who’s back. Back again.

It’s been a long time guys! Over a year! But, I have come back alas. I have new polishes to show you!

As the title suggests I am wearing Ballet slippers and Mademoiselle both by Essie.

Both are sheer polishes. I have one coat of Ballet Slippers and one coat of Mademoiselle on top. Lets talk about Ballet Slippers first.

Ballet Slippers is one of Essie’s original colors, being introduced to the world over 30 years ago. Essie had planned to discontinue it, however, Queen Elizabeth II wrote a letter to them urging them not to. So thanks to the lovely Queen of England we are still able to enjoy this color on our pretty little nails. With that being said it is one of the most popular, and adored nail polishes around.

My opinion? What’s the big fuss? This polish streaks like crazy, and the tiny brush doesn’t help matters. I put this on my fingers 4 times before I was happy. Twice on it’s own, doing 3 coats. I wanted to do one coat because I knew it was supposed to be sheer and simple but it looked so bad. So, I tried to save it by adding more coats, but I hated the it looked opaque on my skin tone. By the fourth time, I was determined to do only one coat, and I applied it with a very careful hand. What saved it was the addition of Mademoiselle. For me, this is the only way I’ll wear it.

I love the way others have been able to make this color work. It is truly the color of ballet slippers. The perfect pink/nude shade. I just can’t seem to work with it on it’s own. Thank the stars for the other polish: Mademoiselle!

I know they look similar in the bottles, but trust me they are both very different. Yes they are both sheer. Yes they are both nude pinks. The difference? Mademoiselle is slightly more pink. It also comes with a bigger brush, is a bit sheerer, and doesn’t streak the slightest! For me, this is the color I wanted Ballet Slippers to be. I don’t have a picture of what it looks like on it’s own, but I love the way it does. The best way to describe it is that it’s that lovely sheer nude pink they put on when you get a professional french manicure. It just makes your nails look flawless. The concealer of polishes if you will. I love this one.

All in all, I ended up being happy with the combination of the two. It’s a simple manicure that goes good with anything, and great for the workplace. I do wish I could get Ballet Slippers to behave better. I really don’t understand how everyone seems to love it, and I don’t. I love the color, just not the application. Maybe I got a dud, who knows.

It’s great to be back!

Solange by Zoya. Super glittery yellow! Longevity is awesome too. Day 3 and as you can see no chips!

This is also my first Zoya and I am impressed. The application was easy and it was 2 coats however the second coat wasn’t really needed, I just always do 2 to be on the safe side. It is a beautiful  glitter under their “pixie dust” collection. Other colors in that collection are an orange, pink, and purple from what I can remember. Totally wanting the pink now as I love love love this glitter! Not everyday you find an awesome glitter that has great coverage and is as glittery as this!

Did a cute pedi with for audrey; china glaze. Love the stars with it!

No new polishes here, just a different manicure I really love.

I used cherries in the snow by revlon and hallucinate by wet ‘n’ wild on top with the accent nail. LOVE that glitter on top of this red!

Hot Pink (glitter) by Milani on top of play date by essie

ok so i really need to remember how much i hate milani polishes….they are crap!!!!!!!!!!! the glitter is of pink and silver chunks. and this just looked childish. i don’t like chunky glitters like this i guess. i felt like i could have just gotten my own glitter and put it on my nails….urg do not recommend this brand!

essie is awesome though, haha.

Bold Gold by Maybelline: Color Show
My first maybelline polish. A true gold color. I personally loved it. Would look great as an accent nail to a red manicure!  Bold Gold by Maybelline: Color Show

Lava by Mary Kay.

Got this for christmas cuz one of my sisters sponsors mary kay. Had no idea they even had nail polishes!

This is an amazing color. It’s one that changes shade in different lightings. In this case it went from copper, orange, pink, to a beautiful pink/orangey red color that camera picked up. Very unique. It does remind me of a darker version of kiss me coral however, it is pretty different from that. The name fits it ok but i would expect more of red/orange for a name like lava.

I did have to do 3 coats, it went on kinda sheer, and it wasn’t my best paint job but i love the color too much to complain about those things. It also lasted longer than my other manicures have been.

Amazing color.

Pearly Brights by Nina: Ultra Pro

New brand for me! What an insanely bright pink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The bottle made it seem more like it would be an orange but when applied it’s just an insane bright pink with bright purple hues. Perfectly names if you ask me cuz it has that pearl affect with that hue.

LOVE IT! Would be a great summer nail lacquer :)

Are Mermaids Real? by Spoiled.

Cheap CVS brand of nail polish. It’s an alright brand I guess.

This is a mauve purple with golden glitter in it. It’s something I’ve never seen in a single nail color, so points for being unique. However, I feel like with my nail collection I could have made a better looking manicure with 2 colors with the same results. But I guess if you don’t have patience for that…lol.

Kind of a little on the kiddy side if you ask me. Also the camera didn’t get the golden glitter very well :(
